2. Acceptance of these Terms

By enquiring, booking, or using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.

3. Eligibility and authority

By booking with us, you confirm that:
  • You are at least 18 years old, and
  • You are the legal owner of the dog, or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

4. Bookings and onboarding

To help us deliver safe, personalised care, we may require onboarding details (and in some cases a meet-and-greet) before confirming ongoing services.You agree to provide complete and accurate information about your dog, including:
  • Behavioural history (including reactivity, anxiety, escape attempts, biting or aggression)
  • Health conditions, allergies, injuries and medication needs
  • Emergency contact details and vet details

5. Safety, handling and service suitability

Dogs are living beings and behaviour can be unpredictable. For the safety of your dog, our team and the public, we may decline, pause or adjust services if we reasonably believe:
  • A dog cannot be safely handled in the booked environment, or
  • The information provided is incomplete or inaccurate, or
  • Conditions (including weather) make the service unsafe.
Where appropriate, we may recommend alternatives (e.g. shorter walk, solo walk, different time slot).

6. Access to your home (for house visits)

If you book an in-home visit, you are responsible for:
  • Providing safe, reasonable access instructions
  • Disclosing any hazards (e.g. broken gates, aggressive animals on property, unsafe stairs, pool access, etc.)
  • Ensuring your dog is appropriately secured for our arrival (where relevant)
If keys, codes or entry details are provided, we will take reasonable care of them. You acknowledge that access issues (e.g. incorrect codes, faulty locks, or inability to locate keys) may prevent service completion and may still incur a fee.

7. Emergencies and veterinary treatment authorisation

If we believe your dog requires urgent veterinary attention, you authorise us to:
  • Contact you and/or your nominated emergency contact, and/or
  • Arrange veterinary treatment if we cannot reach you in time.
You agree that you are responsible for veterinary costs and related expenses unless the issue is caused by our proven negligence.
 

8. Service updates (including photos and notes)

We may provide service updates such as notes, photos and general observations. Any updates are intended to enhance transparency and are not veterinary or behavioural diagnoses.

9. Fees and payments

  • Prices are as advertised on our website, booking platform, or as otherwise quoted to you.
  • Payment is due at the time of booking unless agreed otherwise in writing.
  • If an invoice is issued, it must be paid within 14 days.
  • Late payments may result in suspended services until payment is received.

10. Cancellations, rescheduling and no-shows

Unless stated otherwise at booking, the following applies:
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee up to the full service amount.
  • No-shows (including where we can’t access the property or the dog is not available) may be charged the full service fee.
  • We may reschedule or cancel due to extreme weather, safety concerns, illness, or operational issues. If we cancel, we’ll offer a reschedule or refund for the affected service.

11. Behavioural incidents and risk

You acknowledge that working with animals involves inherent risks (including injury, illness, escape or property damage), even with appropriate care and precautions.You agree to inform us of any behavioural concerns that may impact safety or service delivery.

12. Liability and Australian Consumer Law

To the extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (such as loss of profits, loss of opportunity, or stress-related claims).
  • Our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee may be limited (at our option) to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having the service supplied again.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us for reasonable losses, damages or expenses arising from:
  • Your breach of these Terms, and/or
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information you provide about your dog,
  • except to the extent caused by our negligence.

14. Website use and intellectual property

All content on this website (including branding, text, images and design) is owned by or licensed to The Houndry. You may view and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You must not reproduce or distribute content without written permission.

15. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be published on our website with the updated date.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
